Creating an engaging concept to build a campaign
aimed at bringing together local community.
The Raw Talent Quest, a initiative of the Currumbin RSL, aimed to bring together the local community by inviting performance artists to share their own special skill - from singing to dance or even martial arts displays. There were no restrictions, rules or parameters, with the selected entrants to participate in a series of live events judged by industry professionals. We were proud to be involved with the project on a pro bono basis.
We started by breaking down what exactly was the definition of ‘talent’ and
found a brilliant result of ‘natural ability or superpower’, which formed
the basis for our creative concept.
As the event was about discovering new talent, we talked about where and how entertainers often start their careers - on the street, busking or performing for the purpose of sharing their talent with a simple sign often made from a piece
of cardboard.
We encouraged the local community to get involved by making their own 'signs' announcing their talent or superpower - even if they didn’t plan on entering themselves - and to upload an image with their sign to social networks.
We started the hashtag #secretskill as another method for the online community to become involved in the campaign. A feed of these tweets also appeared on the website.
